Summer Learning

Summer Learning Purpose

The West Allis-West Milwaukee School District’s Summer Learning program is designed to provide an engaging, academic experience where students choose to continue their growth and development throughout the summer.

Student Participation

Current 4k-8th graders may attend summer learning at the school that is associated with their home school.
Grades 9 -12: Students identified in need of credit recovery
Grades 9 -12: Students that register for credit attainment

Transportation

Transportation will be provided from each home school to the summer learning camp site at the beginning and end of each day. If parents are wanting transportation for summer learning, they need to sign up for this when enrolling their student in summer learning.

Mitchell: A bus will pick up and drop off at Irving, Hoover, Walker, FLW, and Mitchell.
West Intermediate: A bus will pick up and drop off at Franklin, Wilson, Jefferson, Horace Mann, and Pershing.
Central: A bus will pick up and drop off at Hale and Central.

Meals

For High School:

The West Allis-West Milwaukee School District’s High School Summer School program is designed to:

Provide students with an opportunity for credit recovery.
Students will recover credit in specific English, math, science or social studies courses.
- In each session, students will have the opportunity to earn up to 1.0 credit (two semester courses.)
- A student may earn no more than 2.0 credits (four semester courses) in the Summer 2026 experience.
Provide students with an opportunity for credit attainment in the following course offerings:
- Comprehensive Health: Online course using Edgenuity (includes CPR and AED training) for .5 credit.
- Personal Finance: Online course using Edgenuity for .5 credit.
- Independent Physical Education: Meets weekly at Central. Requires daily activity log for .5 credit. (Students can only take this course once.)
- Strength and Fitness: Meets daily at Central, includes daily activity log for .5 credit.
