Wow, it's hard to believe that we are entering our third year together as partners in the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District. Time has certainly flown by, and as we prepare for the start of another school year, I find myself reflecting on just how far we’ve come. Together, we’ve made tremendous progress toward building a stronger, more student-centered district, one that is committed to excellence, equity, and opportunity for all.

 

This past year marked a significant milestone in our shared journey: the successful passage of two historic referendum questions. This investment, driven by the support of our community, is a powerful endorsement of our collective vision. These funds enable us to provide fair, competitive compensation for our incredible staff and address long-overdue facility needs that will enhance the learning environments for our students. It’s a step forward that demonstrates the community’s trust in our mission and our vision.

 

We are also beginning to see encouraging signs of growth in student outcomes, as evidenced by gains in ACT, FORWARD, and FastBridge assessments. Each of our schools completed the first year of their SAIL (School Administrators’ Institute for Transformational Leadership) journey. This district-wide effort included developing 100-day plans, refining theories of action, and establishing the foundation for long-term, sustainable improvement. This kind of strategic, focused work speaks volumes about the dedication and professionalism of our school leaders and staff.

 

As we head into this new school year, I remain deeply honored to serve as your superintendent. I am inspired every day by the passion and commitment of our educators, families, and community partners. Together, we will continue to prioritize the success, well-being, and full potential of every student in our care. Education is a transformative force, and we have both the responsibility and the privilege to ensure that every learner in our district is supported, challenged, and empowered.

 

I’m truly excited for the work ahead. Let’s continue to build on the strong foundation we’ve established, driven by our shared values and a relentless focus on what’s best for students. The West Way Forward!
