We are very excited to introduce the options for summer learning camp!  This summer, we will be offering a choice of sessions for students that are all hands-on, engaging topics that will also embed opportunities to practice reading, writing, math, and science skills.  All summer school courses are FREE for students! 

Summer Learning Camp will run Monday through Thursday from June 19, 2023 through August 3, 2023!  There will be no camp sessions during the week of July 3-July 7, 2023.  


Elementary students will be assigned to a cluster site based on their neighborhood school.  
  • At Mitchell: Irving, Franklin, Hoover, Walker, Madison, and Mitchell
  • At Mann: Jefferson, Pershing, Longfellow, Wilson, and Mann
The daily schedule will be as follows:
  • 8:15-8:45 am: Breakfast and Community Building
  • 8:45-9:30 am: Session 1
  • 9:35-10:15 am: Session 2
  • 10:20-11:10 am: Session 3
  • 11:15 am-12:00 pm: Lunch & Choice Activity
Students can sign up for just one session or all three.  The Lunch & Choice Activity will be an opportunity for students to choose an activity of interest to learn more about. The courses for elementary school include Kindercamp, Ninja Sports, LitCamp, Ooey Gooey Science, MathCamp, and several more! The specifics on how to sign-up and the description of each course available will be sent home on Friday, March 17, 2023.  
Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day.  Transportation will also be provided for elementary students to and from the summer school site.  Pick-up and drop-off will be at the neighborhood elementary school. Bus transportation for current Longfellow students will be from either Jefferson or Pershing.  This is only available for students participating in the full program from 8:15 am to 12:00 pm.


Intermediate students will attend their neighborhood intermediate school (either Frank Lloyd Wright or West Milwaukee).  Transportation will not be provided to the intermediate schools. 
The daily schedule is as follows: 
  • 9:00 - 10:25 am: Session 1
  • 10:30 am -12:00 pm: Session 2
  • 12:05 - 12:30 pm: Project/FLEX Time
  • 12:30 - 1:00 pm: Lunch & Learn
Students can sign up for just one session or for both sessions.  The Lunch & Learn will be an opportunity for students to focus on literacy and math skills to move towards grade level standards.  The courses for intermediate school include Summer Sports, Page to Stage, and many more! The specifics on how to sign-up and the description of each course available will be sent home on Friday, March 17, 2023.  Sign-ups begin Monday, March 20 at 9 am and will close Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 5 pm.
Please note that students currently in fifth grade who will be moving on to intermediate school can choose to take courses at either the elementary cluster site or the neighborhood intermediate school for 22-23.  

High School

Our high schools will offer a limited number of courses for credit attainment for students who are eligible and credit recovery courses for students who need them.  All high school courses will be held at the attending high school.  No transportation will be provided for high schools. More information will come out from the schools in May.

  • Week 3: Monday, June 26, 2023 through Thursday, June 29, 2023 


Session 2: July 10-July 27 

  • Week 4:  Monday, July 10, 2023 through Thursday, July 13, 2023  

  • Week 5:  Monday, July 17, 2023 through Thursday, July 20, 2023 

  • Week 6:  Monday, July 24, 2023 through Thursday, July 27, 2023
