Benefits are available to regular employees that work at least 20 hours per week (benefits matrix). 
General overview of all benefits can be found in the 2022 Benefits Guide. Health, Dental, Vision, Flexible Spending Accounts, Long Term and Short Term Disability, Voluntary benefits, Life Insurance, Retirement through the Wisconsin Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF) and 403b Options. 
 
Coverage for all benefits is effective the first of the month following the first day of active employment, unless you start on the first of the month, in which case coverage begins the date of start.

What is the deadline to apply for insurance?

Enrollment must be completed within 30 days of your start date.
 
Employees who miss the 30-day window to enroll will only be able to enroll again during either:
  • Our annual Open Enrollment period each November
  • A qualified family status change (must notify benefits office within 30 days of the qualifying event)

What is the schedule of insurance premium deductions through payroll?

 
The insurance premiums for Health, Vision, Life and Short Term Disability are regularly deducted on the second payroll of each month, with an exception during the months of May, June, and October where deductions are taken on the first and second payrolls. 
 
Contributions for Flex Spending Accounts, Wisconsin Retirement System, and 403(b) are deducted every pay period. 
 
As a new hire, your first deduction depends on the time of the month in which you enroll.  If enrollment is received after the regularly scheduled premium deductions for the month are complete, a double deduction will take place the following month.
