2024 Referendum

Inviting our community to be part of shaping our future:

Our students. Our schools. Our communities. Our District.
Our West Way.

As a result of much hard work and planning, our district is on a solid financial footing. Over the years, our West Allis-West Milwaukee School District has overcome significant fiscal challenges that threatened the long-term viability of our district. Our improved finances have created an opportunity where our district can focus on other significant challenges: facilities and pay.

Our school district faces three current challenges.

We Listened to our Community

Over the last two year, our school board and district have engaged our community on possible solutions to address our schools' most significant facility needs.

On June 6, 2022, our School Board made the difficult decision to vote to, at the end of the 2022-23 school year, consolidate schools with excess enrollment capacity.  Lane Intermediate, Longfellow Elementary, and Madison Elementary schools were closed, and students enrolled in the remaining intermediate and elementary schools for the 2023-2024 school year.  School consolidation is one strategy included in the Long-Range Facilities Plan to ensure our district's long-term financial stability.
