We know that it takes ALL of us to make our schools run smoothly and be a place where our students feel that they belong. We also know that ALL of our staff works relentlessly every day in pursuit of creating experiences that build community and empower learners so that they can live life on their own terms. We believe that every staff member in our District is a valued educator who contributes to the academic, social and emotional growth of our students.
This award has been established to recognize our outstanding educators for their dedication, professionalism and excellence in instruction.
Each month, we will recognize 1 educator and 1 staff member based on their contributions to their school, going above and beyond for students in our District and modeling The West Way. Educators will be nominated based on the following criteria:

Fosters a sense of belonging - makes a positive difference in their school, department and our District by being inclusive, accepting, respectful and encouraging of all

Educates the whole child - actively seeks opportunities to engage and celebrate all students in a way that promotes social, emotional and academic growth through meaningful deeper learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom

Build a community - intentionally seeks opportunities to build and strengthen relationships with students, families and staff to create an strong, inclusive and respectful community

Empower learners so they can live life on their own terms - fostering an educational environment where learning experiences are aligned to each students individual strengths, interests and goals

Models WAWM equity beliefs - demonstrates our equity beliefs in their work; ensuring that all voices are heard and respected in order to make sure every student has what they need to succeed
